A while ago Sanjay Leela Bhansali was adamant about not having a married lady play the role of Juliet in his movie Ram Leela that’s inspired from the Shakespeare classic Romeo and Juliet. Later Kareena Kapoor, the lady who was supposed to play the role of a Gujarati Juliet called Leela disclosed her marriage plans, and SLB was heart-broken.

In the days that followed we heard Bhansali dropping Bebo from the cast and trying to fit other heroines like Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif and the replacement-specialist Deepika Padukone in the role. But alas! None could make it to the cast for reasons best known to the maker.

Now we are told that Kareena is back. While certain birdies chirp that the crestfallen filmmaker decided to compromise with his no-married-heroine policy to accommodate his first choice, another set of feathered friends believe that Bebo was desperate for the role and hence she has convinced beau Saif Ali Khan to delay the marriage just so that Bhansali takes her back. Sigh!

Vidya Balan is serious competition to the top notch actors of Bollywood not just with her fabulous acting skills, but also with her ever-growing popularity. And the latest to feel the heat of Vidya’s raging success is the blue-eyed girl of the Kapoor khandaan – Kareena! It seems that Bebo is feeling insecure about her standing in B-town, since Vidya is cruising ahead with incredible speed with super-successful films like The Dirty Picture and Kahaani.

We saw Vidya showcasing her dirty streak in TDP. And those who have seen the first look of Heroine, where Kareena is showing off her seductive moves, could sense that Bebo is following the footsteps of her contemporary. But as Ms K insists, “I am not getting into anyone’s shoes. I am very much comfortable in my shoes and nobody fits into my size.”

Kareena did not stop there. When asked if she would make way for other actors and hang her boots up when the appropriate time came, Bebo had a fiery reply: “I haven’t thought of it as yet. I think I will be like Zohra Sehgal, working till 90…so tough luck. I am not going to give my place to anyone,” she said.

Does that mean Saif Ali Khan has to wait a little longer before Kareena hangs her boots to tie the knot with the Nawab? Not until she is 90, we hope!
