Finally Bollywood made its way to the ongoing Delhi Couture Week. While Sonam Kapoor was spotted at Anamika Khanna’s show, Sharmila Tagore walked the ramp for designer duo Ashima-Leena.

Javed Akhtar with wife Shabana Azmi also attended Anamika Khanna and Gaurav Gupta’s joint off-site show.

Day Two of the fashion extravaganza began with Ashima-Leena’s Raag Rattan collection. Clad in a bright orange sari, Sharmila Tagore once again turned showstopper for the designer duo.

Highlight of the collection was use of jewellery as part of a garment- like using pearls for border or stones on neckline which created necklace like effect.The collection concentrated essentially on bride with heavily embellished saris, lehengas, anarkalis, long jackets and shararas in whites, creams, greens, blues, pinks and reds.Instead of usual backdrop music, there was live performance by Sufi singer Zila Khan.

Off-site show
The joint off-site show was one of its kind with a long corridor-like ramp and sitting arrangement on either side. This show didn’t focus on bride and gave new meaning to the six-yard drape.

Anamika Khanna
Clad in a peach-black sari-gown, Sonam Kapoor didn’t walk the ramp but was there to cheer designer Anamika Khanna who presented a very striking couture. Giving an ode to powerful Indian woman of today, her collection was a modern take on traditional silhouettes.Saris sans petticoats or underskirts (some even with thigh high slits), sari-gowns with asymmetrical hemlines, modern cuts on traditional garments- Anamika’s creativity touched the sky. Colour palette comprised of pink, blue, ivory, beige, red, gold and silver.

Gaurav Gupta
Titled The Sylph Aviary, Gaurav Gupta’s show was a delight to watch.His couture comprised of draped gowns, lehenga gowns, his signature sari gowns in reds, pinks, oranges, yellows and nudes.With inspiration from Rococo and Art Nouveau, the designer presented a romantic-vintage couture.

This concluded the Day Two of the five-day fashion extravaganza (August 8-12).

New Delhi, (IANS) Clad in a beautiful lehanga-choli teamed up with a red dupatta and sindoor on her head, Bollywood diva Madhuri Dixit turned “devi” for veteran designer Anju Modi at the ongoing Delhi Couture Week (DCW).

“My collection revolves around Bengali literature including ‘Charulata’, ‘Devi’, ‘Parineeta’ and ‘Devdas’. And the common theme about all of these literatures is the depiction of a powerful woman as the central character. That’s why I have focused on the power of woman who is not only lovable but also energetic,” Modi told IANS after the show.

“Madhuri is the epitome of elegance, an intelligent, passionate human being. Even after her marriage, she has maintained her charm and that’s why she is the devi of my collection,” Modi said.

This was the first time that the actress was seen walking the ramp for any designer, and she looked gorgeous in her signature smile teamed up with elegance and panache in her walk.

Husband Shriram Nene graced the front row and cheered for his wife.

Modi’s collection included lehangas, achkans and saris in colours that varied from red, white and black. Muslin, silk, cotton were the prominent fabrics used in her collection.

The designer has been making Madhuri’s outfits for her TV reality show “Jhalak Dikhla Ja” as well. She said they both have been associating for a year now.

“I have known Madhuri for a year now. Like a typical American, she was shopping online and she came across my clothes. When I met her, I found her to be a down-to-earth person. She eventually became my muse.”

Though the actress avoided talking to the media after the show, but her maiden appearance on the ramp surely crowned her as one of the gorgeous looking divas in Bollywood history.

New Delhi: He is a complete package of good looks, youthful charm and acting finesse while she is pretty, talented and, well, fat! And guess what it would be when these two would be paired to romance each other in a film? Meet Shahid Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha, Bollywood’s popular younger lot of actors who have been chosen by none other than Prabhu Deva to act in his next action flick ‘Namak’.

Earlier, as was speculated that the lead actress for the movie would be either Katrina Kaif or Deepika Padukone, but now the air seems to be clean, and it has been reported that the role has been bagged by Sonakshi.

‘Namak’ tells the story of drug trade in Madhya Pradesh and is a demanding film in terms of its power-packed action scenes. So, post ‘Kaminey’, this will be another challenging role for Sasha, which we are pretty sure he will pull-off nicely.

Leaving that aside, we only wonder how a voluptuous Sonakshi would look shaking her body alongside the fit and fine Shahid? Is it another Shahid-Vidya disaster in the making? Well, we just hope that Sona does not end up looking like Sasha’s aunty!

 She was one of the earliest among the popular Video Jockeys (VJ) to make a shift to Bollywood. Now as names like Ayushmann Khurrana and Rannvijay are taking the trend forward, Shenaz Treasuryvala says VJs make excellent actors, given their confidence to face the camera.

"I think VJs make excellent actors as we are not camera-shy and already have confidence. It's all under the blanket of being an on-screen personality," Shenaz told us in an email interview.

Shenaz used to anchor music show 'MTV'S Most Wanted' for many years, before she made a move to Bollywood with Ken Ghosh's 2003 movie 'Ishq Vishk'. After that she featured in films like 'Radio' and 'Delhi Belly'.

The 31-year-old will now be seen in romantic comedy 'Main Aur Mr. Right', in which she plays the role of a perfectionist looking for her 'Mr. Right'.

Shenaz feels every girl will be able to relate to the story.

"Most girls, no matter how practical, independent, mature or modern they claim to be, cannot let go of the teenage girl inside them... the girl who's grown up on Shah Rukh Khan or Tom Hanks' films.

"Somewhere inside us, we are all dreaming of a man to sweep us off our feet and ride us away into the sunset on a big black horse. So I think women of all ages can relate to the movies," she added.

Asked if she is equally choosy in her real life as well, she said: "Not as much as my character. She takes picky to another level. I feel that no man is going to be perfect and check all the boxes so I need to pick my top five and go with a man who fulfills those."

Directed by Adeeb Rais, 'Main Aur Mr. Right' also marks the debut of TV actor Barun Sobti. The film's release date is not yet finalised.
