Trailer Of ‘Student Of The Year’ Out

Trailer Of ‘Student Of The Year’ Out

Many of us who spent our teenage years watching Hollywood high school flicks, had few memorable or notable cult high school films from Bollywood barring perhaps Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, .

But can that change with Karan Johar’s Student Of The Year? The trailer of the film is out and it promises to be an out and out Gen-X film.

Student Of The Year or SOTY is a story of 3 friends who study in Dehradun’s Saint Teresa High School, a premier-uber sleek-English school, preppy yet very trendy, which is a small world in itself. The lead characters are the kids of Bollywood’s who’s who, with filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt’s daughter and David Dhawan’s son, Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhavan, making their debuts in the film. Also debuting in this film is Boman Irani’s son Kayoze Irani and model Siddharth Malhotra.

So, what’s the trailer about? Best buddies turn contenders when the student of the year competition is declared. And amid top class athletic gear, glossy exuberant sets and many trendily dressed youths – who look like an army of mannequins that stepped out of a Vogue catalogue- fight it out to be the student of the year.

The trailer, if it were to be judged by a teacher, would probably get a pretty average grade and its final grade will be  dependent on the acting skills of the debutantes and the storyline of the film. Student of the Year releases in theatres on 19 October.

Kareena's Heroine Pose A Copy of Mariah Carey

Everyone fell in love with Kareena Kapoor's first poster of Heroine the moment it was launched. But wait a minute a second look at this poster reminds you of a similar pose by singer Mariah Carey.

The sultry poster seems to have been inspired from Mariah Carey's promotional photos for her music album The Emancipation of Mimi.

Now inspiration can certainly be a form of flattery but, given the hype, we certainly hoped for some creativity here.

But sadly, the designers of the Heroine posters have gone as far as to retain the exact pose and the backdrop of a bed like Carey's photoshoot.
