Keen To Remake Dad’s Film ‘Manzilen Aur Bhi Hain’: Pooja Bhatt
Mumbai: Actress turned director Pooja Bhatt is keen to remake his father Mahesh Bhatt's 1974 controversial film 'Manzilein Aur Bhi Hain'."I would love to revisit my father’s film 'Manzilein Aur Bhi Hain' which was banned by the censor board that time. This film was a bit too ahead of its time. This is the kind of film that I would like to look at and may re-visit," Pooja told.
'Manzilein....', a drama directed by Mahesh Bhatt featured Gulshan Arora, Kabir Bedi, Mukesh Bhatt, Prema Narayan and others. The film, about two men and a prostitute, was banned for its "objectionable content."Meanwhile, Pooja is looking forward to the release of her film 'Jism 2'.
"The response to 'Jism' was overwhelming and we were quite certain that there is a market for that. I remember when I was working on the sequel 'Jism 2' lot of people in the industry told me what kind of a film it is, in the poster you have not shown the face of the girl, who is going to watch the movie," Pooja said."But I am happy with the response the trailer and the songs have got people have just loved it," she said. For 'Jism 2', an erotic thriller, the makers have roped in Indo Canadian porn star Sunny Leone."In Bollywood mostly films are made for male audience, keeping a male viewer in mind and that is why the item song, an item girl. I think that equation should change. Sensuality should not be a male domain it is high time a woman claims it," Pooja said.
This film is fiercely a female gaze. Though there is sensuality in 'Jism 2', we push the envelope, there is far more than that," she said. However, the director says that enacting the emotional part was a challenge for Sunny."She is comfortable with her body as this is what she does for her living. There were certain things that she did it well and with few others she had difficulty. But we were there to help her. She had limitations as she is not a trained actor. But she did a good job," she said.
